“I am honored to become the next ONS president and look forward to contributing to the organization that supported me through the early stages of my career and beyond,” MacIntyre said. “Through ONS, I developed life-long colleagues and leadership skills and learned how to use my voice in advocacy and support for patients, nursing, and advanced practice initiatives.

“As I embark on this role, my focus is on how to support all our members, particularly oncology nurses and nurse practitioners, in the early stages of their careers. By continuing to promote mentorship and professional development, we can create an environment where every member, regardless of experience, feels empowered, valued, and equipped to deliver exceptional care in this challenging healthcare landscape.”

MacIntyre is a long-standing ONS member and has served the organization’s Board of Directors as a director-at-large for the past year. She developed and leads the only accredited-with-distinction oncology nurse practitioner fellowship in Florida and received the American Association of Nurse Practitioners State Award for Advocacy and the South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s Empowering and Embracing Women Award in health care. MacIntyre earned a dual DNP and MBA degree from Johns Hopkins University.

“I am delighted that Jessica has been selected as ONS president-elect,” Garner said. “She not only possesses a wealth of oncology nursing expertise in clinical, advanced practice, and administrative functions, but she also understands the diverse perspectives of oncology nurses and those to whom they provide nursing care. Jessica will be instrumental in concluding the 2023–2025 ONS Strategic Plan, advancing the development of the 2026–2028 strategic plan, and commemorating ONS’s 50th anniversary. I am excited to celebrate with Jessica as she assumes the role of ONS president at the closing of the annual business meeting at ONS Congress.”
