Biden-Harris Administration’s COVID-19 Winter Preparedness Plan Improves Resource Availability
To try to get ahead of a feared increase of COVID-19 cases over the winter, the Biden-Harris administration released a COVID-19 winter preparedness plan (https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2022/12/15/fact-sheet-biden-administration-announces-covid-19-winter-preparedness-plan/) in December 2022 that focuses on making vaccinations, testing, and other resources easily accessible.

- Expanding access to free COVID-19 testing by offering free rapid COVID-19 tests (https://www.covid.gov/tests) and distributing more tests

- Preparing personnel and resources, including clinical staffing, personal protective equipment and supplies, and technical assistance
- Readying clinical personnel for deployment when needed
- Focusing on protecting at-risk Americans, such as nursing home residents and hospital patients
