September 13, 2021

Here are some of the highlights from the ONS Board of Directors’ monthly meeting on July 20, 2021. For a more complete list of the Board’s discussions and decisions, view the minutes online (https://www.ons.org/board-minutes).

Membership Dues

The Board approved keeping membership dues at $125 for 2022. Dues have remained the same since 2016 and member benefits continue to increase.

Chapter Leadership Weekend

The annual Chapter Leadership Weekend (CLW) brings together representatives from each ONS chapter for focused education on chapter programming. Attendance is required by chapter charter. Typically held in Pittsburgh, PA, CLW was moved virtually for 2020 and 2021.

The Board reviewed two options for CLW in 2022 and approved holding the conference in person in Pittsburgh next year. The date is to be determined.

Other ONS Board Activity

The ONS Board of Directors confirmed its 2021–2022 goals. The Board Development Committee will lead a discussion regarding evaluating board performance at the August meeting.

All Board members will read the book Race to Relevance: 5 Radical Changes for Associations (https://www.asaecenter.org/en/publications/112694-race-for-relevance-5-radical-changes-for-associations) and prepare for a future discussion.

They are evaluating proposals for the two Board-sponsored sessions at the 47th Annual ONS Congress® in 2022, one on LGBTQIA+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual, and more) and the other on social determinants of health.
